"Nothing Natural" is simultaneously jangling and pretty, yet one of Lush's hardest-edged songs, with a primal throb to its rubbery bassline, and jazzy drumming. This is one of Lush's best-loved songs and for good reason. "God's Gift" sucks. "Monochrome" is a slow, hypnotic, and elegant waltz that is almost ruined by its annoying chorus.
  2. Voodoobei says:
‘Nothing Natural’ returns to Lush’ trademark sound: shimmering guitars and elegant, yet intense rhythm playing by Emma Anderson, Steve Rippon and Chris Acland. Robin Guthrie’s production fits the mood perfectly, and was very much against the high-gain grunge sound of the era: each shimmering “wave” touches the listener in the most /5(35).

Split is the second album by British shoegazing act Lush, released on 4AD on June 13, in the UK and a day later in the US. Two singles were released from the album: "Desire Lines" and "Hypocrite," both released on May 30, Split was reissued by 4AD on CD in July

Preceded by the Black Spring EP issued in October , Lush's first full-length album of completely new material, Spooky, was released in January Again produced by Guthrie, Spooky featured a sound very similar to Guthrie's band Cocteau Twins, with walls of sound and a great deal of guitar effects.

May 22,  · Spooky was their first proper album, after several excellent EPs and the Gala comp, and the band and Guthrie hit it out of the park. On superb singles like “Nothing Natural” and “For Love,” sweet vocals move like candy-colored clouds across alternating chorus-laden guitar layers of gauzy, iridescent strums and driving jet-engine bursts.
